What is SENTIO?

SENTIO 150

SENTIO is a lightweight, intuitive and easy-to-use Situation Awareness tool designed to support Emergency operations. SENTIO allows users at various levels to share the current operational picture (COP) of participating agencies and planned operations. A simple user interface and automated position updates from GPS-enabled radios allow decision makers to quickly and easily share the operational picture to help make informed and effective decisions.

SENTIO has three primary capabilities:

  • Digital Mapping. SENTIO provides an easy way to use up-to-date map and satellite imagery of operational areas to ensure that planning pictures match what personnel see on the ground.
  • Situation Awareness. SENTIO interfaces with both military and commercial grade GPS enabled radios, position-based web services, and phones to provide up to date position reporting for all GPS enabled entities. Simple geo-located ICS reports and forms can be quickly conveyed to Incident Commanders and responders.
  • Control and Communication. SENTIO allows incident commanders to create and disseminate plans and orders which include geo-referenced locations illustrating key actions or objectives.

SENTIO application provides role based users with real time situational awareness of assets displayed on high fidelity GIS maps.   The system fully supports standard Incident Command System (ICS) reports and forms as well as ICS organizational structure. Unit organizations can be created individual agencies or as a joint task force involving multiple agencies simultaneously tracking 15,000 independent entities at the tactical level.   Decision makers can collaboratively plan and execute strategy from geographically disperse locations sharing location, graphics and reports.

Simple User Interface.

The simple user interface allows commanders and operational staff to become comfortable with the operation of SENTIO within a single 90 minute training session. Automating vehicle- and entity-level position reporting reduces the burden of emergency responders in the field calling in position updates and requiring command staff to manually update the map. This frees up time for emergency responders and decision makers alike to focus on the situation at hand and make effective, informed decisions. SENTIO uses the Windows operating system on desktop, tablet and smartphone implementations.

Multi-Language Support.

Operators can switch on-the-fly between languages. Having the software in the mother-tongue of the users greatly reduces training overhead. SENTIO can have multiple languages running within the same operation. SENTIO is currently available in English, and can be translated into other languages such as French relatively easily.

Interface to Position Reporting Systems.

SENTIO interfaces to GPS-enabled radios, web-based position services, as well as smart phones so that live position reporting of agency assets and personnel appears directly on the digital map. This feature allows SENTIO to provide up to date position awareness of all assets and personnel responding to the emergency. Vehicles that do not have GPS-enabled devices can be manually placed on the map and shared with higher or lower commanders.

Distributed Situation Awareness.

SENTIO allows geographically distributed decision makers to share a common operating picture. This greatly enhances command and control capabilities.
